Double Trouble

Date: 6 January 2010

Singles favourite Flavia Pennetta and Italian Federation Cup team-mate Francesca Schiavone have also kept their "double" hopes alive, moving into the KIA Motors Doubles semifinals.

On Day Three, they dispatched Brit Sarah Borwell and American Racquel Kops-Jones in straight sets, but must now await the winners of a clash between top seeds Zimbabwean Cara Black/American Liezel Huber and Romanians Monica Niculescu/Ioana Raluca Olaru tomorrow.

On the other side of the draw, Czechs Vladimira Uhlirova and Renata Voracova survived an epic struggle with four seeds Elena Vesnina (Russia)/Riza Zalameda (USA) 7-6(13) 3-6 16-14 to booke their semifinal spot.

Their opponents tomorrow will be South African Natalie Grandin and American Laura Granville.
