Final wildcard announced
The third wildcard for the 2013 ASB Classic has been announced today. Rising Canadian star Eugenie Bouchard has been named as the final wildcard. She won both the Wimbledon and Australian Open junior titles this year and has quickly risen to 147 in the world singles rankings. “She’s got a huge game. There are a lot of people saying a lot of great things about Eugenie and she’s someone we want to invest in,” said ASB Classic tournament director, Karl Budge.
The other two wildcards were given to former two time ASB Classic champion Eleni Daniilidou and US talent Coco Vandeweghe, the latter has a world singles ranking of 97 and has been called the future of US tennis. She replaces former world no.2 Vera Zvonareva who had to withdraw from the tournament due to injury.
