All top eight seeds of the 2012 ASB Classic have progressed to the second round and will all take to the courts on Wednesday 4 January.
Top seed Sabine Lisicki will face fellow German Mona Barthel in the first centre court match today. China's Peng Shuai, the second seed, then follows against Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic.
Then centre court will get its first look at Romanian #8 seed Monica Niculescu who plays Zheng Jie of China.
The night session will feature #3 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova in an intriguing match against American Christina McHale before 2010 champ Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium takes on Italian Sara Errani.
