Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova turned pro in 2005 and has been in the top 30 in the world since 2013. This year was a strong year for the Russian who made the quarter-finals of this year’s Wimbledon. She lost to Serena Williams 6-4 6-4. She recorded some valuable wins throughout the year including over world number four Agnieszka Radwanska. She played in the Russian Olympic team in Rio and has won four Junior Grand Slam titles. Pavlyuchenkova is coached by father, Sergey, and brother, Aleks. Her grandmother played basketball for the USSR and her grandfather was a high-level basketball referee. The family sporting tradition continues with her father an Olympic-level canoeist, while her mother was a swimmer. The 25-year-old is a baseliner whose favorite surface is clay. Her favorite shot is forehand down the line. She speaks Russian, English and French and likes comedy movies. Her best memories are winning the 2006 Australian Open juniors, her first WTA title in Monterrey and playing World TeamTennis.
