Jiri Vesely has finished four straight seasons in top 100 (2013-16). He achieved a career-high ranking of no. 35 on Apr. 27, 2015 after reaching the final in Bucharest. Two days before his 20th birthday in 2013, he broke into the top 100 at no. 89 and finished the season as youngest player in the top 100. The Czech upset world no. 1 Novak Djokovic to claim his first win over a top 10 opponent in 2016 to reach the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo. He also had a great result at Wimbledon defeating world no. 8 Dominic Thiem 7-6 7-6 7-6 to reach the fourth round. He also reached the semi-final of Marrakech. Vesely was the 2015 champion of the men's ASB Classic. He beat Adrian Mannarino in the final in straight sets 6–3, 6–2. In April 2015 he went onto be the runner-up at the Romanian Open. He couldn't repeat the feat in 2016 losing in the first round to the eventual winner Roberto Bautista Agut. He was named the ATP Star of Tomorrow in 2013 for being youngest player to finish in Top 100. His father was a tennis coach who taught him to play when he was 4 years old.
