Roberta Vinci had a career best season in 2011, winning three titles and moving up 15 spots to end the year ranked #23.

The Italian won two clay titles (Barcelona and Budapest) and one grass title in 's-Hertogenbosch.
Roberta's biggest win came in Toronto, when she beat defending champion and world #1 Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets at the Rogers Cup. She went on to defeat former #1 Ana Ivanovic before falling to Australia's Sam Stosur in the quarterfinals. Her great summer run took her to a career high #19 on 15 August.

Roberta was seeded 18th at the US Open, and she reached the third round (her best performance to date at the US Open) before losing to German Andrea Petkovic, the 10th seed.

After first round losses in Beijing and Moscow, Roberta lost to eventual champion Ana Ivanovic at the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions in Bali to end her season.
