Zheng Jie is one of China's most successful tennis players. She was the first Chinese player to reach a grand slam semifinal at Wimbledon in 2008, and she made the semifinals at the 2010 Australian Open.
She's a grand slam doubles champion, having won the 2006 Australian Open with Yan Zi (the pair have won 12 doubles titles together).
A wrist injury prematurely ended Zheng's 2010 season and kept her out of action until February 2011. Her 2011 season ended with her best run of the year at the HP Japan Women's Open Tennis, where she lost to top seed Sam Stosur 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 3-6 in the semifinals. She ended the year ranked #48 on the WTA tour.
