DRAW CARDS MAKE WAY FOR TEAM USA

DRAW CARDS MAKE WAY FOR TEAM USA

Two of the tournament’s draw cards were defeated yesterday, making room for two up-and-comers as we head into Quarter Finals.

German veteran, Tommy Haas was defeated by American young gun, Jack Sock, in straight sets – a win that will see Sock advance to an ATP quarter finals for the third time in his career, where he will meet Roberto Bautista-Agut of Spain.

Sock came into the tournament as a wild card, ranked world number 102 and took out France’s Adrian Mannarino in the first round, 6-3, 6-4.

Meanwhile, wild card Marcos Bagdhatis was toppled by Lucky Loser, Steve Johnson of the USA, who then went on to beat South Africa's Kevin Anderson in the second round. This is world number 160, Steve Johnson's first visit to the Heineken Open- he advanced to the main draw following the withdrawal of Gael Monfils.

John Isner will also advance to the quarterfinals after defeating qualifier, Lukas Lacko.
