Erakovic & Soler-Espinosa through to quarters
In the women’s double’s Marina Erakovic came up trumps against her fellow countrywomen Rosie Cheng and Australian representative Sacha Jones. Erakovic and her team mate Spaniard Silvia Soler-Espinosa took the match 6-2, 7-6.
In her first match since September Marina Erakovic was pleased with her first test on her knee in the women’s doubles first round match “Everything was fine. It’s a bit of challenge that first match and getting used to the whole rhythm of play, the crowd and the points. Overall, thumbs up. I’m happy.”
Soler-Espinosa and Erakovic will play Julia Goerges and Katarine Srebotnik in the quarter-final round. Erakovic will play singles tomorrow (Tuesday 5 January) against Yulia Putintseva.
On her first round singles opponent “She is a solid ball striker, and moves really well and gets’ a lot of ball back. I’ll play my game, try and dominate my forehand and dominate the points. Try and be patient and not rush. I have to be solid and play my game.” Marina Erakovic said.
