FERRER IN 10TH AUCKLAND QUARTERFINAL
Former champions David Ferrer and John Isner are among the six Top 25 players in quarter-finals at the ASB Classic today.
Four time champion and world number eight Ferrer is through to his 10th Auckland quarter-final in 11 appearances. Ferrer has gone head to head against Lukas Rosol six times and has been the winner on all of those occasions. If Ferrer progresses he will reach the Auckland semi-finals for the seventh time.
John Isner who has Auckland championship victories in 2010 and 2014 will rematch against number eight seed Roberto Bautista Agut. The world number 11 Isner rallied from a set down to defeat Bautista Agut in the 2014 ASB Classic semi-finals before beating Yen-Hsun Lu for his second Auckland title.
Isner is joined in the quarters by fellow American Jack Sock, who meets the world number 12 Kevin Anderson for the third time in nine months. Sock scalped the South African en route to his first title in Houston, but Anderson avenged that loss over the summer at ATP Masters 1000 in Cincinnati.
Rounding out the quarter-finals are number two seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and number six seed Fabio Fognini.
