USA's top talent headlines Day One evening session

Fifth seed Sloane Stephens and sixth Coco Vandeweghe headline the ASB Classic's evening session on Day One of the tournament.

Stephens is currently ranked 30 in the world is matched up against Polona Hercog of Slovenia.  Stephens and Hercog have only meet on one occassion at the 2014 French Open where Stephens won convincingly.

While Coco Vandeweghe's (World no 37) opponent is friend Irina Falconi who also comes from the United States. Falconi is currently ranked 76 in the world, but even as the lower ranked player she will take confidence in the fact she has taken two wins over Vandeweghe in 2009 and 2012. 2015 was Falconi's best season to date, finishing the season as 73 in the world. Vandeweghe will be tough to topple though as she feels at home in Auckland having made it to the quarter-final rounds in 2015.
